The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced plans to install an advanced smart fence system along several borders to strengthen the existing surveillance system, besides the large existing land borders.

Perimeter security is a fundamental and crucial element of any airport security strategy. The number of airports in India has seen a huge expansion in the last few years. In 2014, India had around 72 airports, but the number has now reached 141 and the government is working on adding 80 more airports in the next four to five years which will take the total number of airports to 220.

Additionally, as more buildings, homes, and infrastructure projects are being constructed, there is an increased need for fencing for security, privacy, and aesthetic purposes. The construction sector grew 13.3% in July-September 2023 from a year earlier, up from 7.9% in the previous quarter.

The Indian Railways has also been implementing safety measures, including fencing, enabling Vande Bharat trains to operate at speeds ranging from 110 kmph to 130 kmph. Plans include safety fencing along the Golden Quadrilateral and its diagonals, securing vulnerable areas.

All of these factors augur well for the growth of the Fence and Perimeter Protection market.
